Over 1 million Americans a year work as interns. About half of them are unpaid.

Alex Footman was among them, until recently. He worked as an unpaid intern for Black Swan, a film that won numerous awards and grossed over $300 million.

Lulz. France has been doing this for years. It got so bad that a couple years ago they made a law saying that if you interned for over three months, the company had to pay you.

SO the companies stopped hiring interns for more than three months.

(Some didn’t do this, obvs, but a great majority just started taking them on on a three-month basis)

Interesting. In Korea most internships, even if they last a month, are paid (+/- 1 mln won). The only unpaid intership I had here was… In the Polish Embassy…
